I've got everything I need to get going on this new stitch, except the color needed to stitch the reindeer! Isn't that always the case?
I've had a pretty good Woodpecker Week! Let's have a look.
I saw a small female Downy Woodpecker on the dead top of a Big Leaf Maple. In fact, there was a Downy, an Acorn Woodpecker, and a Flicker. Snags, though rather ugly, are woodpecker magnets!
This is the bird that made my Woodpecker Week!
A Red-breasted Sapsucker and I managed to get one good photo of the bird! Yahoo!
This is the best photo I managed of the female Hairy Woodpecker.
Doesn't the male Hairy Woodpecker look like he has a red heart on the back of his head?
It seems like an extra-large patch. I'll have to look carefully and see if I have a couple of male, maybe the red patch varies in size a bit.
Here is the Acorn Woodpecker couple.
The male even braved the freezing rain to eat some suet.
Silhouettes - a Downy Woodpecker and a Flicker with tail feathers splayed.
I go back and forth...is this a female or a young male? I need to ask the owners of my local Wild Birds Unlimited store. They'd know.
The bright red mustache - this bird is a male, no doubts!
Good luck we your new project. Your pictures are amazing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great picture of that sapsucker - very pretty bird!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you have a similar color for the reindeer's body in a one of the other lines? And wouldn't it be great to have a cross reference between the various overdyed threads?
I would all it a GREAT woodpecker week!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute new project--hope you get the needed color very soon :)
