It's mid-August and my sister's dahlia garden is coming into its own.
She is also growing cosmos...
...and bachelor buttons...
...and zinnias...
...and yet more cosmos.
But mostly dahlias - over 150 plants.

This form is a pom - it was my maternal grandmother's favorite kind of dahlia.

ReplyDeleteLove seeing these! They are always spectacular! I looked at them this spring, but they require full sun, and there is nowhere in my property that has full sun. Sad face!

ReplyDeleteI love seeing your sister's dahlias. They also remind me of my mother's and grandmother's gardens, especially Haley's Dream and Clearview Audrey. As kids we called them earwig flowers as they always seemed to have earwigs in them. We learnt to shake them before we sniffed or brought them inside.
ReplyDeleteThose are so lovely! Does your sister have them fenced in, Beth? I came home from vacation to find my hostas and hydrangeas totally decimated by our local deer "neighbors!"
