April's Blog Header

Garden Grumbles and Cross Stitch Fumbles April 2016 Blog Header

This month's blog header theme is a bit obscure.  I decided that since the outdoor world was becoming  ever more green, that I would feature stitches where the main color was green.  So there you have it!

The designs and designers are listed below - horizontal rows.  If the chart has more than one design then I've included both the chart name and the design name,

Row #1: The Prairie Schooler, "Farmer's Market" - "Corn"; Sam Sarah Design Studio, "Bloom"; La-D-Da, "Alphabet with Hare"; Summer House Stitche Works, "A Baltimore Bride" - "Sophia"; Crown and Thistle, "Quaker Seasons Purse II" - "Spring and Summer".

Row #2:  Rico Designs, "Spring Trends" - "Polka Dot Egg Chicken"; JBW Designs, "The Bunny Collection" - "Plaid Bunny"; The Cricket Collection, "Letters Part 1" - "Busy Bees and Beehive"

Row #3: Ewe and Eye and Friends, "Corn"; Chessie and Me, "Botanical Garden"; all the way over to the right - The Drawn Thread, "A Year of Flowers" - "March".

Row #4: The Prairie Schooler, "Spring and Fall" - "May"; Just Nan, "Bluebird Sampler"; Ewe and Eye and Friends, "Doodle Bugs"; Erica Michaels, "Random Thoughts of Spring"; Country Cottage Needle Works, "Button Button".

The collage features a Robin and so do my photos.

Some mornings I watch close to one hundred Robins take off as it becomes light.

This one has eating up a storm.

I was pleased to see three Lesser Goldfinches the other day.

I did not realize until I looked at the photos on my computer that there was a female...

...as well as two males.

I still see anywhere from a dozen to 30 California Quail.

They are beginning to pair up.

And I'll end with a sweet male House Finch.  I am enjoying their singing in the morning.

  1. Mr and Mrs Robin red breast is one of my favorite birds--they always remind me of spring. The quail are also very interesting

  3. Really enjoyed looking through your green-themed blog header this month, Beth. I see several finishes there whose charts I have--I really should dig them out and stitch them up.

Your robins breasts are so much more vibrant than those around here! Life in Oregon obviously agrees with them :)

  4. The blog header looks quite springlike to me. What lovely birds! Sometimes I think they're my favorite photos, but then you show the bunnies, or the deer, or the chipmunks, or - or - or...

  6. Love the green in your header! We're starting to see more green, but the leaves haven't appeared on very many trees yet. Our goldfinches are showing their bright yellow again and I sure do love hearing all the birds singing at all times of the day.

  13. Love the header--had wondered what the theme was... I pulled out my Just Nan Bluebird Alphabet recently, after seeing yours... started stitching it, and then was wondering where I had seen it! So GLAD you post so often, that I figured it out! Ha! I was watering the front yard this evening, and the robins couldn't wait for me to move, so they could get some bugs! Quite the characters! And I just put up a Thistle Feeder, so hopefully the Goldfinches will visit more often! Hugs!
