Anna and Rufous

We have a Rosemary plant, it is blooming and the hummers are happy.

I have a pleasantly plump female Anna's...

...and a longer, sleeker male Anna's.

In the past week, I'e seen the male Rufous Hummingbird more frequently.

He certainly glows a fiery orange / red.

I am glad that he now seems to have found the feeders in the front and back.

Starting today, it will rain long and hard for three days.
That makes it difficult for the hummers to feed on flowers or find small insects to eat.  The feeders become an important source of food.

Stay warm and healthy hummer!

  1. Those delicate little bodies need all the help they can get. We are to have rain up here too, and the wind that usually accompanies it. The little hummers will be sheltering in the hedges and coming by the feeders between gusts.

  2. Love those hummers! I've spotted some Ruby-throateds this week in N Florida. So exciting!

  3. They are so tiny and cute! I saw a hummer at the Bird Park, but not sure what kind it was... posted on the blog... Hugs!
