I like to start the birding year with a visit to Delta Ponds.
While the ponds are a gathering place for water fowl, lots of other birds also find it a nice place to live, including Robins.
I've shared photos of Oak Galls several times. This is a gall of some sort.
As I walked, I came across a group of about 20 Bushtits.
The rose-hips ought to provide food for someone.
The Scrub Jays like all the brush along the edges of the ponds.
Even though it is winter, some of the plants are already anticipating the spring-to-come.
A sunny day is a good day for worm hunting.
The stems of the yellow willows glowed.
As did this Yellow-rumped Warbler.
He was at a feeder near the Ponds singing merrily.
One last rose-hip photo.
This Scrub Jay yelled goodbye as I left.
Tomorrow I'll share my waterfowl photos.
Oh, the first finish in the new year, that is always something special. Lovely design.
ReplyDeleteI love the bird with the orange breast and belly.
I love Rudolph's little button nose!
ReplyDeleteSeems so strange to see the robins hunting for worms! It is so frigid here. Right now it is -5ยบ. And the Cowboys are coming!!
I like the rose hip photo, red is such a warming colour. When I was in Edinburgh on Saturday there was a little show of flowers on the apple blossom.
ReplyDeleteLove your first finish of the year!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute deer finish, Beth! I have a love/hate relationship with deer--love watching them, but just hate what they do to our plants. Last month I looked out the window to find the Japanese maple that we had planted just a few years ago being almost totally devoured by a hungry young buck :(
ReplyDeleteLove the brilliant blue in the Jay!
I like your latest finish! Very cute. I can't believe you have buds visible. We are in for a very cold week here in Illinois. High on Wednesday won't be above zero.... brrr....
ReplyDeleteThat robin is so pretty!
ReplyDeletePrecious little deer stitch! I always love Lizzie Kate! They are so happy!
Love your first finish for 2015. Still want to see a scrub jay in person someday.
ReplyDeleteGreat finish and I love the bird pictures
ReplyDeleteI have a finish today (actually from yesterday) that I hope to share also. Cute little reindeer! Pretty amazing that some bushes are budding already! Winter has only just started! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute finish!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteA great first finish of the year.
