Cross Stitch Archive

As I spent the weekend decorating (and not stitching), I'll share something I stitching a few year's ago.

Design - "December Stamp"
Designer- Lizzie Kate
Fabric - 28 count Mocha Cashel linen
Fibers - GAST & WDW - 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 13 December 2010
Completed - 28 December 2010

I am so lucky to have the Anna's Hummingbirds during these dark gray days.

The birds often drink from the feeder I have on the kitchen window.

That feeder has the best natural light and the photos I take there, show off the birds to their best affect.

If they aren't at the kitchen feeder, they're in the brush 'guarding' the feeder.

"Sharing" isn't a term that they give much credence to.

Though I have two feeders in the front, it is rare to have more than one bird.

The deer fence around the porch makes for perfect perching to guard over the front feeders.

The other day, a very windy stormy day, I had two birds taking shelter on the front porch fence fence. Detente!

Hey look guys!  The red feathers of this female's gorget! *

* You remember that vocabulary word from a previous post, right?

  1. I love those red feathers on the female. It still amazes me the pictures you take of the hummers. They are so fast and so tiny -- I don't know how you do it!

  5. A very cute stitch. Those are great photos of the hummers! Sometimes they have such grumpy expressions, don't they?

ps the first word in the word verification today is "majestically". Nice way to describe these birds!
