A New Bunny A New Bird

Just yesterday I said I was stitching a robin, and here I am stitching a hare!

Tom-Cat say, "Birds...bunnies...they're equally interesting!"

I wonder what Tom-Cat would think of a Western Pond Turtle?
There was one sunning on a log in the Quarry Pond.

I also was able to sneak up on this bad boy at the edge of the pond.

Overhead nine Turkey Vultures circled and soared.

It was a good bird day with Scrub Jays...

and Song Sparrows...

and Mourning Doves...

and Anna's Hummingbirds...

and Black-Headed Grosbeaks..

and Lesser Goldfinches...

and American Goldfinches...

and California Quail.

It's tough to top the feather pattern of a quail.

But the Big Bird New for today...
A New Bird!

I caught a glimpse of this bird on the ground while I was in the car.  When I took a walk later in the day, its song caught my attention. I searched among the oak leaves and finally located this small bright yellow Wilson's Warbler.  There are oodles of different kinds of Warblers in the USA.  I don't know much about them, other than they are currently migrating northward to their breeding and nesting sites. Here's a map from Ebird that shows the range of the Wilson's Warbler for the month of May. Pretty cool. I wonder if it will nest here?

One year ago today we explored the Clerkenwell area of London.

  2. I was going to guess Warbler as soon as I saw the photo, I swear, I didn't scroll down to see what you wrote. Haven't seen one here (of our Eastern variety) but hope to some day.
