I thought I might finish up my Easter basket, but not quite.
I still have some grass to stitch and I need to decide whether or not to stitch the phrase "5 Little Eggs in a basket snug". I'm kind of liking the cleaner look without the words...
We've had several days of rain, at times quite heavy.
The hummers visit the feeders more frequently in poor weather.
The Annas have been showing off their fine feathers.
Even in the rain the feathers glow.
You can see the raindrops...
Here's a Rufuos with dull feathers...
Here they are gleaming.
And my Final Finch of the Season showed up!
One handsome male Black-headed Grosbeak.
He's been totally out-numbered by the Evening Grosbeaks.
I counted 14 at the feeders on Wednesday.
But that number pales in comparison to this flock that chattered as the flew overhead. When I enlarged this photo I counted 55 Evening Grosbeaks.
Wouldn't that be a sight if they all decided to come to my feeders!
It always looks like your hummingbirds have on sequins collars, such beautiful color.
ReplyDeleteYou take such great photos! I love seeing the hummers!
ReplyDeleteThe little basket is looking sweet!
Have a good weekend, Beth!
Better pop to the shops if you are catering for huge numbers, love your birds.
ReplyDeleteSo close! Beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteYour basket is lovely. I really like the muted colour palette for it. You visitors are stunning! What gorgeous colours they are all wearing :)
ReplyDeleteYour little basket is coming along nicely. I think your rain is headed our way later this weekend. Love seeing all your birds. That would be something to have 55 birds drop in for dinner!
ReplyDeleteI know it's not quite finished, but your little basket already looks so lovely. If you hadn't said otherwise, I would have thought it was a perfect finish. I'm with you on finishing off without the words!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, those hummingbirds are wonderful!!! Love love love them! Love your basket too -- you're almost there!
ReplyDeleteThose little hummingbirds are truly little birds of paradise.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the black headed grosbeak Beth. I have never seen one of them. We do get the evening grosbeaks (but not huge numbers of them). Great pictures of the hummingbirds. Your Easter basket of eggs is adorable!
