This turned out to be a sweet little stitch.
October turned out to be the month of comings and goings...
at least as far as birds were concerned.
On the morning of October 28th I had a small flock of six or so Lesser Goldfinches come by. While this photo is not the greatest, if you enlarge it, you can see 3 or 4 of the birds working away eating aster seeds and agastache seeds. See - another reason to be a lazy gardener - the birds will tidy up for you!
Here's a close up of a female Lesser Goldfinch.
And here's a close of of a male Lesser Goldfinch.
They only stayed around for an hour or so, and I've not seen them since.
I am, however seeing lots of House Finches.
This trio amuses me - the middle bird is stretched up was was singing away.
Other late October 'regulars' include Juncos...
...and Chickadees.
The house finch trio is adorable!
ReplyDeleteCute piece. The birds were pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe chickadee wears such a smart little "outfit".

ReplyDeleteI saw this free pattern - of christmas owls - on the cross sticher site and thought of you!
Love all your birds, the stitch one and the ones outside :)
ReplyDeleteI love your birds and stitching too

Wow! Your bird pics are so fantastic! I love the Lesser Goldfinches and the House Finches. Beautiful! Love your finish too!
ReplyDeleteFabulous bird pics!! I always leave some of my garden around for the birds ~ so sad that many, in their haste to have a clean garden bed for winter, take so many things away that can feed the birds.
ReplyDeleteWonderful bird photos. My little Anna's is still at my feeder each late afternoon.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I so enjoy all your birds! You're a Hoot is another great finish too!
ReplyDeleteDarling finish and I enjoy seeing the birds. The photo with the 3 birds - the one in the middle is singing, so sweet.
ReplyDeletelove Annette
Very cute finish. And, as usual, great bird pics. Haven't seen Lesser Goldfinches before - very pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe Chickadees really have distinct coloring! Would have been lovely to hear the singing house finch! I don't hear as many birds around now... sad face...
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable little owl!
