We Walk on Wednesday

I have another little finish to share.

Design - "Owl"
Chart - "Boo Moon" #189
Designer - The Prairie Schooler
Fabric - 32 count Lambswool linen
Fibers - DMC - 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 10 October 2013
Completed - 15 October 2013

We have had day after day after day of glorious weather.
There's no excuse - we're going for a walk.

Isn't the contrast of the yellow Maple (a hybrid) against the green Douglas Fir extraordinarily pretty?

Most of the Vine Maples are turning a soft yellow rather than red.

There are bits of scarlet.  Here the rose hips stand out.

And here a trifecta of red - rose hips, blackberry leaves, and blackberry fruit.

The Sword Ferns remain sturdy and green as autumn marches along.

The Big Leaf Maples are dropping their leaves.

Our wilding Apple tree still has a few apples the deer have somehow missed.

Some of the prettiest trees in the forest are Dogwoods.
This tree is in the deep shade and has wonderful color.

This Dogwood is in the bright sun and has good color too.

The Cherries are just beginning to change color.

As are the Oaks.  Nothing smells more like autumn to me than the musky smell of oak leaves.

The Hazelnuts already have their catkins in anticipation of next spring.

October is Mushroom Time!

That's it for today - I hope you enjoyed the walk.

  2. Of course I loved the walk! I wish I had time to take walks... and now I am looking at overtime at work to get caught up in my new job (on top of the two other ones I do!)--but that means Christmas money! Yay!

  4. I love the owl. He is so cute. I think he goes on my to do list. Thanks for the beautiful walk. I agree, the green and yellow together make a pretty picture. The woods behind our house is full of big leaf maples.
