Another little stitch - very pleasing. As you can see I changed the date to 2013.
The Turkey Vultures are gathering as they prepare to migrate south. Tuesday afternoon I counted 12 of them soaring in the air. I read that 'our' birds fly as far south as Venezuela and Ecuador. The stories they could tell!
This Sharp-shinned Hawk looks as though it has but one leg. I can assure you it has two. I don't know why it was acting like a flamingo.
The Acorn Woodpeckers are becoming 'semi-regular' customers at my peanut feeders. Can you see how he has grasp the peanut between his tongue and bill?
They certainly have a 'bill that means business" - thick and sturdy.
And I'm pleased, after a very long respite, to see a male Hairy Woodpecker at the peanut feeder.
I've said before that I have a love / hate relationship with mullein. On the one hand it is a horribly aggressive self-seeder. On the other hand, having some plants near my peanut feeders seems to create the perfect mini-ecosystem for my woodpeckers, and many other small birds like the Chickadees.
Chickadees are so cute to me! I just adore them.
ReplyDeleteI really love your owl themed header, Beth! Who knew there were so many owl stitching around?! And your Faith finish is so pretty with all the blue shades...
ReplyDeleteI think I would run screaming if I ran into a turkey vulture--not the prettiest bird on earth, is he :)
Pretty finish!
ReplyDeleteChickadees are so adorable :) Your finish looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteAww cute birds..sweet photos
ReplyDeleteHugs x
Beautiful finish! I do love this series of stitches! Love the bird pics too. I need to get a good bird feeder. I think Mia would enjoy the view as well.
ReplyDeleteYour Faith finish is lovely! Love all the bird pictures!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the chickadees too. Faith turned out great!
ReplyDeleteOoo, that hawk is quite the impressive fellow.
ReplyDeleteI really like the colors in this piece. It's not your typical blue and it works so nicely with the chocolate brown.
Kolejny mały ale jakże piękny obrazek. Pozdrawiam.
ReplyDeleteBird feeders bring me a particular kind of happiness - sometimes you're surprised by who decides to show up one day! Love your bird pictures and tales :)
ReplyDeleteLove your new header!
ReplyDeleteFaith is a beautiful finish.
Your bird photos are wonderful!
Lovely finished project, as always! Love my birdie fix! Hugs!
