And So It Begins

First off a great big heartfelt thanks to everyone who read and commented on yesterday's post.  I wasn't sure how my highly personal post about my grandparents' marriage might go over.  I am very happy that it was so well received and resonated with some many of you.

Design - "Gingham Hearts"
Designer - Twisted Threads
Fabric - 28 count Cream/tan Riviera Gingham
Fibers - WDW -1 strand over 1 thread
Started - 6 February 2013
Completed - 11 February 2013

Usually stitching over one causes me all kinds of mental and emotional distress.  But...there is something about Gingham and me.  We do very well together - no frogging - no problems.

Okay, I'm making one more push pitch for taking part in the Great Backyard Bird Count.  It begins today and runs through Monday.  Anyone, anywhere in the world can participate - from one to four days depending on your stamina interest. If you live in the US or Canada, just click here, enter your zip code and you can print off a list of 'likely birds' for your area.

I had sixteen, count 'em - sixteen Grosbeaks show up Thursday morning!

Here's a group shot of nine (2 gals).

Unusually, I had a Flicker couple working the suet feeder.  The male has the red stripe on his throat.

My Varied Thrush continues to visit.

And let's not forget my Everyday Dependables like this House Finch.

As for my bunnies - they count too - as super cute anyway!

Wish my luck on my count today!

  2. Love the over one piece! Good luck with the count. You always seem to have lots of birds so I bet it'll be a great success!

  3. I like the photo of the two flickers together - "two for the price of one".

  4. WOW! That's alot of Grosbeaks that visited. Must be awesome to see that.

Love the Gingham Hearts finish too. I don't particularly care for over one either, but I do like it on some projects.

I'm participating in the Bird Count, but their page says they have an "internal error" so I can't get the list of likely birds for my area.

  7. I read back about your grand parents, what wonderful family photographs, I loved seeing your grand parents as they got older and the family got bigger. As an only child, whose mother died when I was two I envy you.. and love your stitching too.
Thank you for taking me through your family's journey!

  8. I love that gingham fabric, it is perfect for that piece.
I am tempted to take part in the bird count, I wonder if our wild lovebirds here would be listed/counted (they were probably all originally pets so not native, but their population has exploded here in the warm desert)
