After much cursing muttering the poor decapitated bee on the lower right corner got frogged out and restitched. Ironically, the large blue flower basket (also over one) was stitched easily and error free.  Anyway, I quite like the piece, and have a sense of accomplishment.  Hey guys, I finished one of my 2011 Stitching Goals pieces Hoorah!

Tuesday was an odd day - started out frosty and foggy, then the sun shone for a bit (and I took a walk), then the clouds and rain returned (though not forecast).  Something for everyone I guess.

So off we go now - Wednesday Reflections on a Tuesday Walk.

This is the view I have out my set of windows as I type away at the computer.
Young Douglas Fir, young Pines, and three Sweet Gums.

The middle Sweet Gum is stunning this year.

As I walked down our driveway, a large wild cherry caught my eye.  The poor thing lives amongst a stand of Douglas Fir and has grown quite tall as it searches for daylight.  This time of year it is ablaze with color.

Even the Big Leaf Maples are photography-worthy right now...

...as is our little Paperbark Maple.

This Maple leaf is proof there is beauty in decay.

I continue to find Wild Honeysuckle...I wonder if this plant is going to turn out to be the "Kudzu of Lorane Highway".  I always thought that Scotch Broom had that honor, but now I'm beginning to wonder.

The last few apples on our volunteer tree continue to ripen.

In the deep shade, the Vine Maple is a buttery yellow.

This stand of willow down by our Big Creek, is still leafed out.

One of the wild Dogwoods on our property.  The white blossoms in the Spring are pretty, but so is the Autumn color.

As I ended my walk, I noticed a Woolly Bear Caterpillar.  Once again, more black than brown indicating a Hard Winter.  Remember, you heard it here first!

  3. It's great to see an apple actually hanging on a tree. Here in Scotland we don't get the weather to grow apples to any degree. I still love the name of that caterpillar.

  6. Love the wooly bear, love all the walk beauty, love the bee, and TOTALLY understand the muttering/cursing. :) I think it comes hand-in-hand with stitching.

  7. What a gorgeous finish, Beth--the blues and browns in it are wonderful...

I just took a little nature walk today, too--it may be our last nice day here in western PA for quite a while. Lovely photos as always--especially Mr. Wooly Bear :)
