Toddler Woodpeckers

Design - "Honey Label"
Designer - Cedar Hills
Fabric - 28 count natural linen
Fibers - DMC - 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 9 June 2012
Completed - 9 June 2012

Isn't it interesting how different the same pattern can look when stitched on different fabric?  My mother stitched the above photo several years ago.  She used an 18 count cream Aida.

I got to watch an adult male Hairy Woodpecker and newly fledged youngster at the suet feeder.

The toddler was perfectly capable of feeding itself...

...but it did not want to.

So poor old Dad...

...gathered up Bark Butter...

...and handed it off to the kid.

More?!?!?

Honestly! A parent's work is never done.

American Goldfinches are among the last species to mate, nest build, and raise their young.

Can you see the pair?

Saturday's Critters

Barry has been by almost daily.

Lazy grazing

Does he qualify as a lawn ornament?

Then this happened on Tuesday about 1:30pm after a couple of weeks of being bear free...

Not one, but two young black bears.

They were back again several times Wednesday morning before I'd put out the birdfeeders.  A neighbor also reported seeing them.
